Rangers captain Lee McCulloch has called for clarity over the club's affairs after the board announced an investigation will take place into Charles Green's takeover.

Club directors met yesterday after claims by former owner Craig Whyte that he was involved with Green's consortium when they purchased the business and assets of the club last summer.

Whyte's allegations were accompanied by taped recordings of conversations between himself, Green and commercial director Imran Ahmad.

An independent probe commissioned by the Rangers board will now look into the claims by the former owner, whose non-payment of tax forced administration and subsequent liquidation.

Skipper McCulloch said: "A bit of clarity would be great. And just the truth. I think everybody deserves to know the truth."

McCulloch and Kyle Hutton were on the scoresheet as Rangers ran out comfortable 2-0 winners over Clyde on Saturday.
