With this being my last column of the season, now is the time to name my highlight - it was the return of the mercurial James McFadden to the SPL.

James hasn't played as much football as he would have liked over the last couple of seasons, so he had a big point to prove on his return to Motherwell. He did just that.

McFadden has always had the ability to get fans on the edge of their seats when he's in full flow and taking players on and it was great to see this Motherwell legend back in Scotland.

In his 11 starts for Motherwell they lost just two games, he scored five goals and they beat SPL champions Celtic twice. Not bad, eh?

To say he had a major impact is an understatement; the timing of his arrival and his inspiration at the club was a major reason why Motherwell clinched second place.

Let's hope he hangs around for a little while longer.
