Rangers are back

Rangers have secured promotion to the Scottish Premiership, four years after being banished to the lowest tier of the Scottish game and 12 months after losing a play-off to Motherwell.

Manager Mark Warburton praised his players for coping with the huge expectation after the Gers beat Dumbarton 1-0 at Ibrox to seal their return, with James Tavernier on target.

"I am delighted for the fans for what they have been through, it's great for the players to get back in the top tier," said Warburton, who introduced Northern Ireland international Dean Shiels for the final 12 minutes of the game.

"It was a clear directive for the players this season but they have dealt with the weight of expectation and delivered."
