Goalkeeper Fraser Forster has attributed his fine form in Celtic's 11-match unbeaten run to yoga.

Celtic have claimed 11 consecutive Clydesdale Bank Premier League wins and top the table from Old Firm rivals Rangers by two points.

Forster, who is on loan from Newcastle for a second successive season, made a crucial penalty save in December's win over Hearts as part of the run and believes he is benefiting from goalkeeper coach Steve Woods' penchant for yoga.

“I did it years ago at Newcastle but Woodsy was very keen on it.

“I think the lads who have done it have really felt the benefits from it.

“Yoga has really caught on in recent years, especially goalkeeping-wise. Brad Friedel does a lot of it and he's still playing in his 40s. Shay Given does it quite a lot too and he's in great shape at 35.

“It's just a case of improving your flexibility and it's brilliant for a goalkeeper. Stretching that extra inch might make a big difference. “It's something I find beneficial and I enjoy it.”

Celtic are in buoyant mood, according to Forster.

He added: “Confidence is really high just now. At the start of the season there were so many injuries and the back four was chopping and changing so it's terrific having everyone fit again to give us a more balanced squad.”

Celtic manager Neil Lennon yesterday moved to add to his squad by signing defender Jaroslaw Fojut on a pre-contract agreement.

The 24-year-old Poland under-20 international is set to move to Glasgow this summer on a three-year contract once his spell at Slask Wroclaw comes to an end.

Fojut spent five years at Bolton from 2004 to 2009, making just one appearance, but Lennon has been aware of him since that time.

“I actually played against him when he was on loan at Luton for Nottingham Forest and often wondered what happened to him, as he was on loan from Bolton at the time and I was really impressed by him.

“So (Celtic scout) John Park and myself got talking, and his name came up again.

He’s on the verge of international recognition. To get him on a pre-contract is a good bit of business again for the club,” said Lennon.
