An injury-time point from CJ McGourty earned Antrim a share of the spoils against Leitrim at a cold Carrick-on-Shannon yesterday to keep intact the Saffrons' unbeaten record in Division 4 of the National Football League.
The visitors had the advantage of a strong breeze in the first half, and took a five-point lead into the break, 1-4 to 0-2, with Justin Crozier supplying the major. Leitrim made better use of the wind after the restart however and sub James Glancy and top scorer Emlyn Mulligan both bagged second half goals for Micky Moran's side.
Antrim had looked good for full points when Crozier's mishit shot slipped through the fingers of Enda Lyons between the Leitrim posts just before the break, after his fellow Cargin men Ciaran Close, Michael McCann and Tomas McCann had all been on target.Tomas McCann
increased Antrim's lead to six points just after the restart but Leitrim got right back into contention in the 43rd minute when Glencar clubman James Glancy flicked a ball to the net, sent in by namesake James Glancy of St Mary’s.
The Ulster side rallied back through McGourty and Kevin Brady, but the game was back in the balance when Mulligan flicked Dermot Reynold's speculative shot to the Antrim net on 58 minutes, and the same player put Leitrim two points up.
However those two McGourty frees - the second from 47 metres out against a stiff breeze - gave Antrim a deserved draw. \[Peter Hutcheon\]Leitrim: E. Lyons, A. O’Flynn, J. McKeon, B. Prior, J.
