Fermanagh earn big semi-final showdown by hammering Antrim

Fermanagh 0-19 Antrim 0-5

By Colm Bradley

Fermanagh cruised into the semi-finals - against Tyrone in Clones on Sunday - with an easy win against an Antrim side that were listless and second best for almost the entire game.

Tomas McCann managed to kick four second half points for the visitors with Stephen Beatty also contributing to the scoreboard for the Saffrons.

Fermanagh had held Antrim scoreless for 44 minutes and were 12 points to the good by the time McCann scored.

That 12th point for the home side came from the boot of Aidan Breen, who contributed 0-04 over the course of the hour.

Eddie Courtney came on to kick three second half points from play for the Erne men who had impressive performances in defence from Paddy Reihill and Michael Jones.

The first half was the very epitome of one way traffic with Fermanagh 0-11 to no score ahead at the half.

Their entire forward line had scored by the time Joe McQuillan blew the whistle for the break.

Pete McGrath's men went in hunt of a big winning margin to try and claim a semi-final berth.

Antrim were completely outclassed as they could only muster six attempts at a score throughout the opening 35 minutes.

Tomas Corrigan hit three frees with Sean Quigley clipping over the last two scores of the half as he eased himself back into the swing of things. Cathal Beacom, Barry Mulrone, Paul McCusker and Reihill also contributed to the scoreboard as Fermanagh had things all their own way.

Antrim's misery was compounded with a black card for midfielder Martin Johnston on 27 minutes.
