Armagh hold Cork
Sunday, 5 February 2012
It was Kerrigan who grabbed a fortuitous goal for the Munster men, but a resurgent Orchard side turned the game around in the second half, with Malachy Mackin leading the charge from midfield.
Cork led by 1-3 to 0-1 at half-time, but Eugene McVerry and Aidan Forker each converted three frees, and the sides were level on four occasions, before Brian Mallon hit the equaliser in the 67th minute to salvage an unlikely point for the Orchard side on a 0-10 to 1-7 scoreline.
New Galway manager Alan Mulholland marked his first league game in charge with an away win, defeating Derry at Celtic Park by 1-15 to 1-11 in Division Two.
Cailean O'Boyle fisted home a 17th minute goal to spark the Oak Leaf challenge, but Gareth Bradshaw grabbed a Galway goal, and the visitors led by 1-8 to 1-4 at half-time.
And the Tribesmen sealed the win with a string of late points from Joe Bergin, Michael Martin and Nicky Joyce.
Paddy Keenan was the star of Louth's opening day win over Westmeath, hitting four points in the 0-12 to 1-6 success.
