Arnagh boss in bold gamble
Friday, 13 June 2008
Armagh manager Peter McDonnell has made sweeping amendments to his line-up for Sunday’s crucial Ulster Championship clash with Cavan.
Charlie Vernon comes in for his first championship match at right half-back with Aaron Kernan moving up to right-half-forward while Paddy McKeever has been named at left-corner-forward. Kieran Toner will partner Paul McGrane at midfield.
Down find themselves in a state of shock and uncertainty in advance of tomorrow night’s replay against Tyrone.
Assistant manager D J Kane has been hit with a heavy six-month ban after flaunting a suspension he was already serving while there are still grave doubts that full-back Martin Cole (suspended) and midfield ace Dan Gordon (injured) may not play.
Both are expected to learn later today if they will face Tyrone at Pairc Esler.
ARMAGH: P Hearty; A Mallon, F Bellew, F Moriarty; C Vernon, A O’Rourke, C McKeever; P McGrane, K Toner; A Kernan, S Kernan, M O’Rourke; S McDonnell, R Clarke, P McKeever.
