Monday, 7 July 2008
Cavan bounced back after their disappointing defeat to Sligo in the Nicky Rackard Cup last weekend, recording a 0-16 to 0-12 win over Warwickshire at Kingspan Breffni Park.
This was an extremely close contest, with Cavan only in front by two points at the interval, leading 0-7 to 0-5.
The Breffni men were made to fight all the way in the second half by the Exiles, but impressive displays for Michael Wall's charges from the likes of Andrew Nelligan and Kevin Downes ensured the home victory.
Two first half goals ensured Leitrim recorded the first win of their campaign by defeating Fermanagh 2-18 to 1-1 .
Playing against the wind in the opening half, Leitrim led by 2-6 to 1-8 at the interval, after Liam Byrnes had scored his side's second goal, with Jason McManus raising a green flag for the Ernesiders. Fermanagh improved after the restart with a good display from Ryan Bogue, but Leitrim continued to stay in front, with star performer Clement Cunniffe giving an outstanding performance for the Connacht men.
