Ashe: I want McGeeney to stay

Kildare football chiefs are keen to reappoint Kieran McGeeney as manager.

County chairman Padraig Ashe has revealed officials are to hold talks with the former Armagh captain in the coming days.

The Lilywhites lost out narrowly to Down in last Sunday's All-Ireland SFC semi-final.

"We will sit down and see if there are some issues that need to be discussed and ironed out, but I have always wanted Kieran to stay, and that was from before we went on this great run," Ashe said.
