Ballygalget limped to the Down senior hurling championship title at the expense of Ballycran at wind and rain-lashed Portaferry but really this game was nothing more than a lottery.

Indeed, it was perhaps fortunate the Ballygalget had the wind in the first-half before the elements took their toll on the players.

Declan McManus, Cormac Coulter and Gareth Johnston fired over early points and when Coulter added his second it seemed as if his team might slip into their familiar rhythm.

Scott Nicholson landed Ballycran's two points from frees but Ballygalget led by 0-6 to 0-2 at the break.

And incredibly, there was to be no further scoring, the final whistle an utter relief to the players and spectators.

Ballygalget scorers: D McManus 0-2, C Coulter 0-2 (2f), G Johnston 0-2 (1 '65').

Ballycran scorers: S Nicholson 0-2 (2f) .
