Brady’s boys sparkle but won’t get carried away

Ulster MFC Quarter-Final: Cavan 2-17 Monaghan 1-8

Published 25/05/2015

Cavan's renaissance at under-age level was given further impetus via an emphatic 2-17 to 1-8 Ulster Minor Football Championship quarter-final win over Monaghan at Kingspan Breffni Park yesterday.

In total command throughout and oozing confidence, the home team laid down a marker that they could make a serious assault on the provincial title.

But manager Danny Brady is particularly keen to keep things very much in perspective.

"All we have done is won one game. We'll keep our feet on the ground and re-double our efforts on the training ground," maintains Brady.

By half time, Cavan's passport into a semi-final meeting with either Antrim or Fermanagh had already been stamped

They led at that stage by 2-9 to 0-6, their goals coming from Thomas Edward Donohue and man of the match David Brady. A Patrick O'Neill goal mid-way through the second half offered a glimmer of hope for Monaghan.

But with their big guns continuing to fire, the Breffni county strode seamlessly through the final quarter.
