Brennan gets Derry top job

John Brennan has been appointed as Derry's new football manager.

Brennan, who was overlooked for the job on a couple of occasions in the past, takes over from Damian Cassidy, who stepped down after two years in the post.

Only Brennan and Peter Doherty met the four-man selection committee, which comprised county board chairman John Keenan, secretary Liam Peoples, CCC chairman Michael McCracken and management committee chairman Eamon Kerlin.

The other four other nominees - Liam Bradley, Damien Barton, Tony Scullion and Malachy O'Rourke - withdrew from the race.
