Canty skipper to miss semi-final

Cork captain Graham Canty will almost certainly miss the All-Ireland SFC semi-final against Dublin on August 22, after it was revealed he suffered a Grade 2 tear to his hamstring during last Sunday's win over Roscommon.

Results of a scan have confirmed the extent of the injury, which leaves him facing a race against time to be available for the Croke Park clash.

The recovery period for a Grade 2 tear is usually four-to-six weeks, which means Canty is unlikely to recover in time.

The news concerning full forward Ciaran Sheehan is also bad, after a scan showed he suffered cartilage damage and could require keyhole surgery.
