Carnacon 1-5 Donaghmoyne 1-10

Published 03/12/2012

An early goal from Fiona Lafferty set Donaghmoyne on their way to victory over Carnacon and their third All-Ireland Senior Club Championship title success.

Driven on by Cora Courtney, Donaghmoyne attacked the Mayo champions from all angles and they led 1-5 to 1-3 at half-time.

Catriona McConnell scored a point immediately after the break and moments later Donaghmoyne were awarded a penalty after Carnacon goalkeeper Michelle Higgins took down Niamh Callan.

McConnell hit the post but Lafferty followed up to drill the ball into an empty net.

A freakish goal from Natasha Beegan threw Carnacon a lifeline, but as Majella Woods (2), McConnell (2 frees) and Courtney all posted points to put the issue beyond doubt.

Donaghmoyne SCORERS: C McConnell (0-6, 6fs), F Lafferty (1-0), M Woods (0-2), C Courtney (0-1), H Kingham (0-1).

CARNACON SCORERS: C Staunton (0-3, 2fs), N Beegan (1-0), F McHale (0-1), M Carter (0-1).
