Derry football final: Ballinderry are kings again

Ballinderry came from three points down just before the break to narrow the gap to 0-06 to 0-05 at the short whistle and then take the lead for the first time seven minutes into the second half.

They were the better side for long period of the second period but, following the dismissal of Slaughtneil corner back Francis McEldowney in the last minute, they scored the insurance point.

Paul Bradley opened the scoring from a free after two minutes, Patsy Bradley fisting Slaughtneil's second point in the 5th minute.

James Conway hit Ballinderry's first score two minutes later, Paul Bradley adding a second free for 0-03 to 0-01 after 12 minutes.

By the 20th minute Raymond Wilkinson and James Bateson had levelled the scores foe Ballinderry but Paul Bradley (2) and Jim Kelly pointed frees to open up a 0-06 to 0-03 five minutes from half time.

In the closing minutes of the half Kevin 'Moss' McGuckin and Conleth Gilligan from a free cut the led to 0-06 to 0-05 at half time.

Ballinderry continued their scoring ways on the restart, Conleth Gilligan levelling from a free, Colin Devlin then putting the Shamrocks in front from another placed ball six minutes in.

However Paul Bradley pointed from play to tie the scores for the third time, the sides again level midway through the half when Jim Kelly responded from a free to Martin Harney's point for Ballinderry.

In the 47th minute wing back Michael Bell scored a tremendous point to put Ballinderry back in front, a 60th minute Devlin point from a free ensuring their 10th senior title
