Tyrone All-Ireland winning duo John Devine and Davy Harte have already landed medals this month as part of the Ulster side that overcame Munster in the Inter-provincial Championship final at Ruislip, London.

Now the Errigal Ciaran pair are focussed on further success — but this time with a team from ‘enemy’ territory.

They jointly coach the St Patrick’s GS Armagh side that will meet Omagh CBS in the Ulster College’s Rannafast Cup decider at Dunmoyle, Errigal Ciaran’s headquarters, tomorrow (11am).

The Armagh school overcame St Patrick’s Academy Dungannon by 1-9 to 1-7 after extra time in their semi-final while Omagh, coached by ex-Fermanagh county player Kieran Donnelly, eased out Abbey CBS Newry on a 1-7 to 0-7 scoreline.

Not surprisingly, given that Devine is a top-class goalkeeper and Harte a dynamic wing-back, the St Patrick’s Armagh defence is a solid unit but the side carries a big threat up front via Sean McLoughlin and Neill Patterson.

“Maybe it seems a bit odd that two Tyrone players should be nurturing talent in Armagh but we feel we have a good squad of players. They have certainly shown great commitment to date,” points out Devine.

Kieran Donnelly, of course, has steered Omagh CBS to Hogan Cup (All-Ireland Colleges) glory in the recent past and has now assembled a side that is an amalgam of pace and penetration with Ruairi Bradley and Collie McRory key players up front while Blaine Garrity and Thomas McCarron underpin the rearguard with Stephen Kelly and Brendan Donaghy a strong midfield pairing.
