Dooher given Harte boost

Friday, 17 July 2009

Tyrone manager Mickey Harte has given long-serving skipper Brian Dooher a starting berth against Antrim for Sunday’s Ulster championship final at Clones (2.00pm).

Dooher,34, who has been engaged in a battle to regain full fitness after groin surgery earlier this year, played only cameo roles in wins over Armagh and Derry.

Harte has made a significant change at midfield, withdrawing Sean Cavanagh from full-forward where he has been flourishing lately to partner Kevin Hughes in the absence of the injured Enda McGinley.

TYRONE: J Devine: P J Quinn, Justin McMahon, R McMenamin; D Harte, C Gormley, P Jordan; K Hughes, S Cavanagh; B Dooher (capt), T McGuigan, Joe McMahon; M Penrose, S O’Neill, O Mulligan.

Blame for this awful mess lies squarely with Capello

Unusually for Fabio Capello, a man who owns some highly valued pieces of art but is not given to too many flights of poetic fancy, he once said that he had a dream. It was right at the start of his England reign and it was that he would lead his team into the final of the World Cup in Johannesburg.
