Dublin claim first title

Dublin were crowned All-Ireland senior ladies football champions for the first time when a superb display saw them get the better of Tyrone at Croke Park by 3-16 to 0-9.

Full forward Sinead Aherne was the star of the show, hitting a brilliant 2-7 tally, as the Jackies made amends in joyous fashion for three previous defeats in finals.

Amy McGuinness rifled home Dublin's first goal in the 21st minute, and Aherne added a brilliant second in stoppage time to send them in with a commanding 2-8 to 0-5 interval lead.

Aherne grabbed a second goal nine minutes into the second half, and the Dubs cantered from there to the finish.
