Ernemen must make bold title bid: Donnelly

By John Campbell

Fermanagh captain Eoin Donnelly, whose side will be first into action in the Ulster Senior Football Championship, is urging his players to put their disappointments in the Allianz League behind them and focus on making a big impact in the provincial series which they have never won.

The Ernesiders have been paired with Monaghan in the preliminary round on May 20 and Donnelly is anxious that his team take a positive approach into the contest following their relegation to Division Three of the league.

"Obviously it was heartbreaking to lose our place in Division Two but I think we must put that behind us now," states Donnelly.

"I feel it is absolutely vital that we get things right for the championship because it is crucial for us," he adds.

Fermanagh still have injury worries in the build-up to the game in Clones with both Declan McCusker and Ryan Jones rated extremely doubtful, while the match may also come too soon for shoulder injury victim Ruairi Corrigan.
