Hurling: Conor on hot streak, but Cahill wants cool heads
New Antrim hurling hot-shot Conor McCann is all set to plunder more scores against Carlow in the All-Ireland Championship on Saturday at Casement Park.
McCann has bagged 3-5 in three games, two of the goals coming in the important win over Westmeath last weekend.
The lively corner-forward is currently complementing the finishing power of Neil McManus in the Saffrons’ attack and manager Dinny Cahill is more than pleased with the form he has been showing.
“Conor has been showing a keen eye for goals and that’s very important,” says Cahill.
But the manager is urging greater defensive stability and composure as his team seek to extend their journey down the All-Ireland route.
“Against both Wexford and Westmeath in particular we gave away far too much and we have to guard against this on Saturday. We may have already beaten Carlow in the league but this will be of no consequence in the context of this game,” warns Cahill.
