Leinster scrap substitute system

The Leinster Council has abandoned plans to experiment with a substitute interchange system in the O'Byrne Cup next month.

The Council decided to scrap the Aussie Rules-style plan after discovering that it required the Central Competitions Control Committee's approval and they did not have the time to get it in place for the coming season.

It's understood that football managers in the province were in favour of the interchange system as it would have allowed them to look at more players ahead of the start of the NFL in February.
