MacRory Cup: Omagh win final place

By Kevin Kelly

Omagh CBS had to hold off a spirited comeback before beating St Patrick's Academy, Dungannon 2-10 to 0-15 to reach the final of the Danske Bank MacRory Cup.

With the wind at their backs Omagh had four points on the board in the first six minutes with Gavin Slane scoring three of them. Dungannon hit back though and a brilliant brace from Ryan Coleman helped them draw level.

Keeper Packie O'Neill and Slane then edged Omagh three in front before Joe Colton fired in a well taken goal. Sean Doran and Michael Lynn responded for Dungannon but on the stroke of halftime Colton found the net again for a 2-8 to 0-6 lead.

A Lynn point from play started the Dungannon comeback, followed by four Tiarnan Donnelly frees as they reduced the deficit to three going into the final quarter.

O'Neill and Colton swapped points with Donnelly and Lynn and in a tense finish Omagh held on.
