St Patrick’s, Maghera’s dominance of the Ulster Colleges senior camogie championship continues.

They collected their fourth successive title on an emphatic 3-13 to 1-3 scoreline against Cross & Passion, Ballycastle, in Ballymena, extending their record title count to 15 in 26 seasons at the top table.

The winners were dominant from early on with captain Aoife Ni Chaiside and Shauna Quinn totally in control.

However Cross & Passion contained them to 0-1 each during the opening quarter, before conceding six points during the second and, at 0-7 to 0-1 at half-time, Corn Uan Uladh was on its way back to Maghera.

The midfielders Orlaith Ni Mhaolain and Shauna Quinn flashed over points on the re-start, and that was followed by the score of the game, a fine solo goal from Mairead McNicholl.

Maghera then brought on sub Adrienne Gorman to full-forward and she got two goals. Mairead McNicholl fired over three points in the last quarter to bring her total to 1-8.

Earlier in the day, at Ballymena, Loreto, Coleraine claimed their first Fr Davies’ Cup in a decade with a 3-7 to 1-4 victory over St Pius X, Magherafelt.

In the Medallion Shield final, St Catherine’s took to a first ever senior Colleges’ title with a 7-5 to 4-5 blitz of last year’s defeated finalists Assumption, Ballynahinch.
