Maughan not interested in Mayo

Published 11/08/2010

John Maughan is not interested in returning for a third spell as Mayo football manager.

Maughan led the county to All-Ireland final appearances in 1996, '97 and 2004, and also had spells in charge of Clare, Fermanagh and Roscommon.

He says his only focus at the moment is on his current position with Crossmolina.

"I love being involved in football, I love being involved in Crossmolina football, and that's my focus at the moment," he said.

Mayo are currently seeking a replacement for John O'Mahony, who stepped down following a disappointing championship campaign.

"We can rule nothing in or out. It would be nice to have a manager from within the county but we'll just have to wait and see who is nominated, what kind of experience is out there," said county chairman James Waldron.
