Mayo grieving for Feeney

Mayo is mourning the loss of former football star Ger Feeney, who died in a boating accident.

Mr Feeney (56) made more than 70 appearances for the Mayo senior team, after winning All-Ireland medals at minor and U-21 level.

He was a replacement All-Star in 1975, winning the player of the tour award on the trip to the USA.

He died along with friend Donal McEllin after the pair got into difficulty while rowing ashore from the motor cruiser in which they had travelled to Inishbofin Island off the Galway coast.
