McBrearty and Bradley make the difference as UUJ triumph

Cavan 0-15 UUJ 0-19

By Paul Fitzpatrick

Patrick McBrearty and Mark Bradley came off the bench at half-time to fire a combined tally of 0-8 as University of Ulster confined Cavan to their first defeat under Mattie McGleenan's watch.

It took the students 23 minutes to open their account, by which stage the Breffni men had posted 0-5 - with newcomers Niall McKiernan and Shane O'Rourke to the fore - but three points in as many minutes dragged the visitors back into the game and they soon trailed by just 0-8 to 0-7.

And the introduction of the duo to the full-forward line made the difference as they surged in front in the third quarter and ran out deserving winners.
