McGoldrick is camogie's shining star

Derry have a camogie All Star for the first time, in the shape of Grainne McGoldrick.

The Eoghan Rua captain wrote her name into the history books of her club and county when she picked up the award in Dublin on Saturday night.

And she then returned to the north-west to show off her prize to a family steeped in gaelic games.

Brothers Barry and Sean Leo are prominent members of the Derry senior football team, while Grainne teams up with sister Meabh in the camogie line-up. Younger brother Colm is also making his way at a younger level.

Grainne’s award helps make up for the disappointment of suffering defeat in the National League Division Two final to Clare earlier this year.

Meanwhile new Armagh manager Paddy O'Rourke the new Armagh manager watched an Armagh County side run out winners by two points over a North Armagh Town team in Lurgan yesterday.

All-Ireland minor winner Andrew Murnin, one of the youngest men on the pitch, had a superb game and scored a long distance point.
