McGrath pledges loyalty to Down

Pete McGrath has ruled himself out of the running for both the Meath and Monaghan football management posts.

A double All-Ireland winning boss with Down, McGrath said he could not envisage himself managing against his native county.

"I don't think you'll be seeing me leading Monaghan out or Meath out in the Ulster or Leinster championship next year," he said.

"Over the last few years, a number of counties have made very serious approaches to me. Meath did two years ago, Louth did last year, and I did give them serious consideration but, at the end of the day, I'm a Down man.

"I know other people can cross borders and train teams from other counties and I've got no problem with that, but that's not me."
