McMonagle inspires Donegal

Two superb goals from the brilliant Yvonne McMonagle inspired Donegal to a 2-12 to 0-16 triumph over Waterford in the TG4 All-Ireland Intermediate Ladies Football Championship final at Croke Park.

The full forward finished with a 2-5 tally, all from play, as the Tir Chonaill girls just edged out a brave Waterford side in a thrilling decider.

McMonagle shot some glorious points and banged in a 25th minute Donegal goal, after Waterford had made the early running with scores from sisters Michelle and Sinead Ryan and Michelle McGrath.

The Ulster side led by 1-7 to 0-8 at the interval, and a second McMonagle goal set them on their way. Michelle Ryans eight points haul was not enough to rescue Waterford.
