McNulty gets top job at Laois

Former Armagh star Justin McNulty is the new Laois football manager.

McNulty was given the nod by officials and delegates at a county board meeting.

The ratification was dealt with swiftly and though no duration for the role was announced, many present expressed hope that McNulty be given time to develop the squad which has fallen down the pecking order in Leinster football in recent seasons.

McNulty has had a successful stint in club management with Cavan side Mullahoran, and was a member of the Armagh backroom team under Paddy O'Rourke this season.

He played at full back on the Armagh team which won the county's only All-Ireland title in 2002.
