O'Dwyer to stay with Wicklow

Mick O'Dwyer has committed himself to another season as Wicklow manager, but the 74-year-old has admitted he had considered retiring from management.

"I did have it in my mind, probably for the first time ever, to pack it in altogether," he revealed.

"The county board in Wicklow seemed to be pretty unanimous in coming back for me again and that was a fillip in itself. It is always better to work in an environment like that.

"I did give it an awful lot of consideration and it is for one more year. We had a great campaign in 2009 but things fell a bit flat this year. I still reckon there's enough potential there to give things a real go."
