Phelan quits inter-county hurling

Waterford's Brian Phelan has announced his retirement from inter-county hurling.

The 31-year-old has been a member of the squad for eight years. He was called up in 2002, but did not make his championship debut until 2004.

He will continued to play for his club De la Salle, and will be in action this weekend in the Munster Club SHC final against Thurles Sarsfields.
