Ref attack investigation completed

Published 11/01/2011

The Gardai have completed their investigation into the attack on referee Martin Sludden at the conclusion of last year's Leinster SFC final between Meath and Louth.

A number of supporters were involved in an altercation with the match official, after he awarded a late winning goal to Meath in controversial circumstances, denying Louth a first provincial title in more than 50 years.

It is understood that the DPP has recommended that up to three individuals face charges over the incident.
