Tipp set up Clare clash

Published 08/05/2011

Tipperary set up a Munster NHL semi-final meeting with Clare as they recorded a 2-16 to 1-9 play-off victory over Cork at Semple Stadium.

Cathal Horan smashed in two first-half goals to help Tipp to a 2-5 to 0-8 interval lead.

And with the wind in their backs in the second half, they set about imposing themselves on the contest, winning all the key battles with their Rebel opponents.

Liam McGrath laid on an outstanding exhibition of finishing, and his tally of nine points - mostly from frees - made a big contribution to the win.

Horan finished with 2-2 to his credit, while Conor Hammersley and John McGrath contributed two points each.
