Tyrone and Dublin set for clash

The draw for the quarter-finals of the All-Ireland football championship has thrown up the ultimate plum tie — Dublin v Tyrone.

Mickey Harte’s side, chasing what would be a third All-Ireland title in five years, will go head to head with the Dubs, seeking to end a 13-year famine, at Croke Park on Saturday August 16.

Tyrone have already strode to qualifier wins over Louth, Westmeath and Mayo, but now face a massive task against the in-form Dublin, who routed Wexford by 3-23 to 0-9 in the Leinster final.

Wexford, who got their All-Ireland campaign back on track by defeating Down on Saturday, will take on Ulster champions Armagh this Saturday knowing that victory would give them an unprecedented semi-final place.

Kieran McGeeney’s Kildare side have been drawn against Munster champions Cork — which will be played on Sun

day — while reigning All-Ireland champions Kerry, still in hot pursuit of their third successive crown, will meet Connacht champions Galway as part of a double header with Armagh and Wexford.

Blame for this awful mess lies squarely with Capello

Unusually for Fabio Capello, a man who owns some highly valued pieces of art but is not given to too many flights of poetic fancy, he once said that he had a dream. It was right at the start of his England reign and it was that he would lead his team into the final of the World Cup in Johannesburg.
