Dromore 0-11 Carrickmore 0-6: The powers that be in Tyrone are set to be very busy over the next few days as an investigation is sure to be launched into disgraceful scenes that marred the end of yesterday’s senior league final between Dromore and Carrickmore.

With only two minutes left a mass brawl broke out on the field with fighting taking place in the stand as well and play being held up for 10 minutes.

When calm was restored, Carrickmore duo Plunkett and Gabriel McCallan were both sent off but other players were fortunate not to receive their marching orders as well.

In the end Dromore were worthy winners and it means they complete the double having won their third championship title in five years a couple of weeks ago.

It was a scrappy first half with Dromore leading 0-3 to 0-2 at the break despite having played against a stiff breeze.

Niall Sludden, Eoin McCusker and former Tyrone attacker Colm McCullagh were the St Dympna’s marksmen with Benny Martin and Kevin McNally on target for Carrickmore. Within three minutes of the restart Carrickmore had turned things around thanks to a trio of unanswered scores from Martin, McNally and substitute Finbar Magill.

McCusker and McCullagh levelled matters before teenager Sludden took centre stage with two outstanding points.

McNally reduced the deficit from a placed ball but that was to be Carrickmore’s last score.

Midfielder Sean McDonnell landed a superb score from distance for Dromore before Sludden weighed in with his fourth point.

The game had been threatening to boil over on a number of occasions and that’s what happened in the 58th minute as the row broke out.

Dromore though had the final say through McCullagh on a day that sadly will be remembered for all the wrong reasons.
