UUJ are down on luck

By Micheal McGeary

Fermanagh will be hoping to cash in on UUJ’s misfortune when they go head to head in Dr.McKenna Cup in Brewster Park this evening.

The Erne men lost by three points to Donegal in Ballyshannon last Sunday.

But this evening they find themselves up against an understrength Jordanstown outfit.

It’s the last thing manager Adrian McGuckin wanted at this stage of the season, but it would be some consolation if that injury crisis were to ease between now and the start of Sigerson in three weeks time.

UUJ have lost a staggering nine players from last season including such notables as Karl Lacey (Donegal), Andy Moran (Mayo), Mark Lynch (Derry) and Paddy Cunningham (Antrim).

In addition they are likely to be without Monaghan defender Donal Morgan, who has just resumed training after an operation during the summer.

If things aren’t bad enough UUJ are also unable to call upon Crossmaglen trio David McKenna, Jamie Clarke and Kyle Carragher.

But if any side can thrive on adversity then it’s Jordanstown.
