Wave of optimism making its way through Fermanagh

Published 11/04/2015

NFL DIVISION ONE: It's not often that Fermanagh gets the chance to play a big part in the Allianz Football League semi-finals.

But when Donegal and Monaghan take on Cork and Dublin respectively in tomorrow's semi-finals at Croke Park, they will do so under the baton of two of the Erne County's favourite sons.

Rory Gallagher is now at the helm of operations at Donegal while Malachy O'Rourke has brought what was a previously under-performing Monaghan up into the footballing elite.

And a fortnight hence, Fermanagh will line out in the Division Three final against Armagh and they boast the highest scorer in the league - Sean Quigley has potted 4-42.

Under former Down All-Ireland winning boss Peter McGrath, Fermanagh have blossomed this year.

Fermanagh spokesman Pauric McGurn says: "There's a great spirit of optimism within the county and we are looking forward to making even further progress."
