Hoey back in winning habit

It was with huge relief that Michael Hoey rolled in the par putt to clinch
the Banque Populaire Moroccan Classic.
The Belfast man had appeared to have been cruising to victory at the El
Jadida Sofitel golf resort only to wobble over the closing holes.
He was three shots clear of the field with six holes to play but Frenchman
Julien Quesne came from well down the field to within two when he had four
birdies in five holes from the 11th.
That gap was reduced to just one as Hoey dropped his first shot of the day
with a bogey five at the 14th, having been playing almost flawlessly up
until that point.
Suddenly he was in a tie for the lead at 11 under when he bogied the par
three 16th hole with the Fenchman in the clubhouse. But he held his nerve to
sink a birdie putt on the 17th to lead by one and then gratefully took his
five on the last to close out the victory.
It's Hoey's third victory on the Challenge Tour and will send him shooting
up the Order of Merit with the top 20 at the end of the season gaining their
European Tour card.
