BALLYMENA Academy sixth former Adam Brady is the tall pencil slim 17-year-old who partners the youngest golfer ever to reach the last day of the Belfast Telegraph Club Foursomes.

Dermot McElroy was only 13 in June but already plays off '4' in a career glowing with promise.

Precision before power is the key to his game and nobody was surprised when this Ballymena pair made it to Sunday's semi-final of a Malone tournament won last year by a 17 and 15-year-old from Cairndu.

"We dovetail nicely and try not to make too many mistakes," smiled Brady.

Club Orange now sponsor this premier Foursomes event, in which young Adam and partner face Charlie Adair and Tom Mageean, of Scrabo, the winners to meet either Ballymena's No.2 player Paul Stevenson and left hander Fred Dawson, or Andrew Gregge and Michael Stewart from Down Royal Park.

What odds against a first ever final between two players from the same club - Ballymena?

Scrabo are already Ulster Cup finalists (against Tandragee) for the second year running.
