Radio DJ Chris Evans has been banned from participating in a celebrity golf tournament - three months before he was due to defend the title he won last year.
Evans (46) won the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship last October with professional golfer partner Nick Dougherty. However, the pair's impressive socre of 40-under-par raised eyebrows.
Both Evans and the tournament organisers have refused to explain the reasons for the ban but the BBC Radio 2 DJ hinted that his handicap of 10 last year was said to be too high to reflect his ability.
Evans said: "I could go into why but frankly it's all a bit of a bore. Suffice to say, if we were kids in the plyground, the boy who owns the ball just took it home in a huff because his team didn't win."
