Fisher holds off Harrington to win

England's Ross Fisher resisted a thrilling challenge from home hero Padraig Harrington to win the 3 Irish Open at Killarney - and with his fourth European Tour victory moves from 13th to sixth in the Ryder Cup race.

Harrington closed with a seven-under-par 64 and twice shared the lead, but Fisher responded each time and with a 65 won the £415,973 first prize by two at 18 under par.

In the week he came close to the circuit's first-ever 59, his 266 aggregate equalled the tournament record of Colin Montgomerie - now Ryder Cup captain, of course - set nine years ago at Fota Island.
