Jesper Parnevik drives home criticism of Tiger Woods
Friday, 4 December 2009
Jesper Parnevik, the fellow professional who introduced Tiger Woods to his wife, Elin, yesterday accused Tiger Woods of “not being the guy I thought he was”.
The Swedish Ryder Cup player also expressed the desire “next time Elin uses a driver instead of a three iron”.
Woods issued a statement on Wednesday in which he apologised to his family for “personal sins and failings” as the revelations of his affairs began to emerge.
The World’s No 1 golfer crashed into a fire hydrant and tree outside his home in Florida in the early hours last Friday morning, suffering facial lacerations which required hospital treatment.
It is now written in folklore that Elin Nordegren smashed the windows of the SUV to “help” her husband escape the wreck. Parnevik evidently does not entirely buy the theory which Woods' publicists still seek to present.
The 44-year-old claims he feels particular sadness as it was he who introduced to Elin — then working as his au pair — to the American in 2001.
“I really feel sorry for Elin,” said Parnevik. “We probably thought he was a better guy than he is.
“I would probably need to apologise to her and hope she uses a driver next time instead of a three-iron. It's a private thing of course but when you are the guy he is, the world's best athlete, you should think more before you do stuff.”
Woods doubtless has more problems to deal with at the moment, but Parnevik's criticisms will still hurt.
The pair were known to be close and Parnevik, although a maverick, is much respected in the game.

The only good out of this is that if Elin whacked him with a golf club, she could be charged with domestic violence. If Woods covered that up fine. I do think she hit him with the club which he well deserved.

Parnevik says "it's a private thing" and then goes on to comment to the world press. Obviously he feels strongly about it and he is entitled to have a view, but perhaps it would be more helpful to keep out of it and let the parties concerned sort it out.

Tiger Woods is entitled to his own privacy and he and his wife should be left to sort out their marriage.
Regarding Parnevik's criticisms: if the reports are true that she wants a renegotiation of the pre-nupt - surely its obvious that is all about money? That is the really sad thing in all this that they all want his money - in which case he as nothing.

No way! So Mr Jasper is perfect then and does no wrong! I dont think so? We are all only human and we all make mistakes. I can understand that Tiger might have made some bad choices here but it is totally a private matter with him and his wife to work out. And i can totally understand with all the pressures Tiger must be constantly under he, like evry human being can make mistakes. just remember Jasper you are exactly right TigerWoods is the best athlete in the world. And a living legend already! Something you are not!!!! I wish Tiger all the best to get through this situation and get on with his outstanding golfing displays.

I don't think Jesper needs to fall all over himself apologizing to Elin. She, though terribly wronged and hurt, can still repair the damage, if they both want to do so. At worst, she will walk away with financial security for herself and her children that she might not have otherwise had. If she loves her children, they would not exist were it not for their union. My wife of 21 years left, somewhat malignantly, but I did get a wonderful daughter out of the union and for that, I would willingly have suffered twice as much. I suspect, with time, Elin will be able to say the same. She also stands to be entitled to millions of dollars, have her children, her looks, and her youth; so life can be LOTS WORSE!!

I'm shocked!
Imagine a multi-millionaire celebrity with a model wife having an affair - who'd have thought?
Though, the way his wife reacted may have been a bit of a clue...
