McIlroy in the mix
Rory McIlroy recovered from a double-bogey at the first to post a one-under-par 71 on day one of The Masters at Augusta.
The 22-year-old managed to turn in one under after birdies at two, eight and nine, but he then bogeyed the 11th and 13th to put himself back into trouble.
However, a birdie, birdie finish on 17 and 18 put him back into contention, five shots behind leader Lee Westwood.
Three-time major winner Padraig Harrington briefly held the lead early in the day after an eagle on the second but he also carded three bogeys and two birdies to leave him alongside McIlroy on 71.
Open champion Darren Clarke, who came into the event with a groin strain, ended the day one over, but fellow Northern Irishman Graeme McDowell could do no better than 75.
