Tiger Woods anxious to get his new season started

Tiger Woods will begin his 2011 season at the Farmers Insurance Open in San Diego, California next week.

Woods confirmed via his website that he has entered the tournament at Torrey Pines, where he enjoyed three straight wins prior to missing the event in each of the last two years.

Woods has not won a tournament since the Australian Masters in November 2009, and lost his number one ranking to Lee Westwood last year. However, he sounded optimistic in remarks made yesterday on his Twitter feed.

He said: “I've been working hard on my game, it's game time hooah!!”

Phil Mickelson, ranked fourth in the world, two places behind Woods, has also committed to the event, which is close to his Rancho Santa Fe home.
