Rory McIlroy: Holywood man hits back at critic who accused him of being 'bored' of playing golf after US Open failure
Rory McIlroy has hit back at criticism of his US Open performance after he was accused of being "bored" of playing golf.
The Holywood man, and world number two replied to fellow golfer, Steve Elkington on Twitter, after he crashed out of the Major after missing the cut.
More like 200mil... not bad for a "bored" 28 year old... plenty more where that came from. pic.twitter.com/R2nigEaee7— Rory McIlroy (@McIlroyRory) June 17, 2017
Steve Elkington said: "Rory is so bored playiing golf...without Tiger the threshold is prolly 4 majors with 100mill in bank."
But Rory responded with "More like 200mil... not bad for a "bored" 28 year old... plenty more where that came from."
And the former US Open winner also posted a screenshot of his own Wikipedia page, showing off his 22 professional wins.
He's also walked away champion at three of golf's four Majors. The Masters is the only one which has eluded him.
Steve Elkington then replied: "New you were a money guy Jack (Nicklaus) won 18 and never mentioned his total cash."
