Meanwhile, Ireland's U18 boys lost their final pool game 7-3 against Germany but are looking good to retain their European top-flight status.

Garvey's Matthew Nelson was among the scorers, as were Geoff Cole and David Nolan.

Andrew Smyth's lads face England tomorrow (8pm) and Russia on Saturday (2.30pm).

The Irish U16 girls lost 7-1 to the Netherlands in their Six Nations series in Bremen, Germany while the Irish U16 boys face England in their final game at Breda, Netherlands, tomorrow (10.15pm).

The senior Irish women take on Belarus in their Euro semi-final today (2.30pm) with a win guaranteeing a place in the top flight.
