Ireland coach Craig Fulton has made three changes to his 18-man squad ahead of the European Championships which start in London next Friday.

Those missing from the successful World League 3 campaign in Antwerp are Banbridge duo Drew Carlisle and Stephen Dowds and the injured Jonathan Bell (Lisnagarvey), but coming in are Bann's Matthew Bell, Annadale's Michael Robson and Three Rock's Jonny Bruton.

Altogether there are eight Ulstermen in the squad, with Carlisle and Garvey's Neal Glassey among four on standby.

Four of the top five nations in the world are taking part, and the Green Machine have been pooled with current champions Germany and World No. 4 Belgium as well as France. The Netherlands, England, Spain and Russia are in the other pool.

Meanwhile, Ulstermen Iain Lewers, Mark Gleghorne and David Ames are all named in England's squad, with a fourth, Ian Sloan, unlucky to miss out on selection.

The tournament runs from August 21-29 at the London Olympics hockey venue at Lee Valley.
