Giants have no fear of Devils with top spot moving into sight

By Staff Reporter

The Belfast Giants will attempt to put the Halloween frighteners on Elite League leaders the Cardiff Devils this weekend. Derrick Walser's team will travel to Wales tomorrow night and if they can beat Braehead Clan at the SSE Arena this evening (7pm) they will go to Cardiff ready to really hunt down the leaders.

The Giants have turned their form around, with three wins in the last four games. The early-season league table doesn't give a clear picture, but with two games in hand the Giants are within six points of Cardiff.

"We've been a little bit up and down, but we have played really well at times and if we can consistently do that moving forward then I think we are in a really good position," said defenceman Jeff Mason.

"Braehead have had a run of bad form, but they are a dangerous team so we have to be ready to play and not let them play their game.

"Going into Cardiff is always a tough game. They have a very good team and we want to go in there and take the points from them that they took from us in our building."
